Shorter University is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin “Marty” Ziesemer as its new Director of Athletics. A seasoned leader with more than twenty-five years of experience in collegiate athletics, enrollment management, and Christ-centered student development, Ziesemer brings a proven record of strengthening programs and supporting the growth of student athletes.
Ziesemer brings a distinguished career in higher education that includes leadership roles at both Corban University and Tabor College. His tenure at Corban included serving simultaneously as head women’s soccer coach and Vice President for Enrollment Management, where he helped guide key initiatives that strengthened student engagement and institutional growth. He went on to serve as Athletic Director at Tabor College before returning to Corban to lead its athletics department, where he oversaw program development, staff leadership, and the advancement of competitive excellence. Most recently, he served with BSN Sports, partnering with colleges and school districts across a multi-state region to strengthen athletic programs and expand strategic resources.

Throughout his career, Ziesemer has led large athletics departments, guided programs to competitive success, strengthened student-athlete development, and implemented strategies that supported enrollment and institutional growth. He is known for investing in coaches, fostering teamwork, and cultivating programs where faith and excellence work hand in hand.
Ziesemer holds a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine, a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Corban University. He begins his duties immediately.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Ziesemer and his wife, Cindy, have two adult children, Daniel and Shannon Marsh, and a son-in-law, Austin Marsh. Their grandchildren, Hadley and Brooks, are among their greatest blessings.
