Woman charged with elder abuse
A Rome woman is accused of abusing an 80-year-old woman.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
43-year-old Amanda Ann Moncrief grabbed the victim by the arm and started pulling, while yelling and cursing at the woman.
In addition to being 80, the victim is also disabled and chair-bound.
Moncrief also began throwing items in the home, breaking them, and pouring an unidentified substance on items in the bedroom.
She is charged with exploitation or intimidation of an elder adult, simple battery against a person over 65, and criminal trespass with damage to property.
Man charged with forgery
An Atlanta man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday and charged with theft by taking, 3rd-degree forgery, and writing fraudulent checks.
According to jail records:
28-year-old Justin Latrey Bostic took a check not written to him for over $1,500 and then forged it to make it out to himself.
He then tried to deposit the money.
Woman charged with terroristic threats and acts
A woman from Sandusky, Ohio, is accused of sending a threatening text message to a North Rome woman.
According to an arrest warrant:
52-year-old Kelly Marie Szewczyk texted that she was going to travel from Ohio to Rome and kill the victim.
She is charged with a felony count of terroristic threats and acts.
Report: Maryland woman found with over an ounce of marijuana
A Maryland woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday on a felony count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
According to jail records:
21-year-old Alexa Lynn Cooper was in possession of over an ounce of marijuana at a location on Martha Berry Highway.
Cooper reportedly admitted the marijuana belonged to her.
