The Floyd County Commission is expected to conduct a public hearing and vote on new gas station and convenience store regulations when it meets on Tuesday.
A moratorium has been in place since late last year on permits for new stores to give officials time to come up with the standards, which include things like greater distance requirements between stores, greater distances from churches, schools, and parks, and keeping stores solely on major arterial roads
In addition to new convenience store development regulations, the commission will consider a number of other recommendations from the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission when it meets on Tuesday.
A special use permit that will allow for the installation of a new truck scale at an industrial/recycling facility on Woods Road comes to the commission with a recommendation to approve.
The planning commission is recommending denial of a special use permit for an outdoor gun range on Morton Bend Road.
And a special use permit for a day care/group home at 3770 Kingston Highway comes with a recommendation to approve with conditions.
The county commission will also consider a rezoning request on Wayside Road. The applicant wants a zoning change from Suburban-Residential to Multi-Family Residential in order to build 420 townhouses and apartments.
A rezoning request for a new pharmacy at 4334 Martha Berry Highway is also on the agenda, along with a zoning change from Suburban-Residential to Community-Commercial on Rockmart Road at Rockmart Highway.
The Floyd County Commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the county administration building on Fourth Avenue.
