A 24-year-old Rome man was arrested Sunday at his Villamar Street home on a felony count of threat by extortion and harassing communications.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:
Dale Jackson Early Jr. threatened to accuse another man of a sexual offense that allegedly took place 5 to 6 years ago.
Through this threat, Early obtained $1,000 from the man.
Early later threatened to release an incriminating video of the man on social media and lie to the man’s employer to get him fired in an attempt to extract another $500 from the man via CashApp.
Early also ran from police as they were trying to arrest him, and is additionally charged with misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
