The Rome City Commission will welcome two new members when it holds its first meeting of 2026 on Monday.
Jill Fisher and Vic Hixon, along with returning Commissioner Elaina Beeman, will be sworn in at the beginning of the meeting.
Commissioners will then elect a mayor and mayor pro tem for the coming year.
Sammy Rich will be reappointed as city manager. Rich will then appoint officials and authorizing agents, management staff, department directors and other staff.
Appointments to the alcohol control commission, the Rome Downtown Development Authority, and the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission are also on the agenda, along with proclamations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Human Trafficking Month.
New development standards for convenience stores and gas stations are slated for a first reading, following a vote by the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission on Thursday to recommend approval.
The city commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
The caucus, which will start at 5 p.m. in the Sam King Room, will include a presentation regarding the land bank authority and the City of Rome’s 2026 Community Home Investment or CHIP partnership.
