Rome High School football coach John Reid informed his team this morning that he is retiring as head football coach.
A statement from the Rome City School System issued on Friday read:
“We would like to thank Coach Reid for his years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to student-athletes and the Rome High School community.”
Reid’s coaching career spans more than 20 years.
He was hired as Rome’s coach in February of 2015.
In November, Reid won his 250th game as a head football coach when the Wolves defeated Kennesaw Mountain.
During his time in Rome, the Wolves have won nine region titles (one of those is a shared title not recognized by the GHSA) and two state championships. The team has reached the state playoffs every season, advancing to the semifinals four times and winning two state titles.
