74-year-old man accused of setting fire
A 74-year-old South Rome man has been arrested in connection with a fire on West Butler Street back on November 15.
According to an arrest warrant:
James Clyde Holmes Jr. started a fire by bringing an accelerant to the property and then lighting it.
The home was damaged in the resulting fire.
Holmes is charged with 1st-degree arson.
Warrant: Man struck another man with a rake
A Shannon man has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault, exploitation or intimidation of the elderly, and removing an electronic monitoring device.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Nicholas Augustus King struck a 66-year-old man on the top of the head with a rake back on October 10.
King also cut off his ankle monitor, which was required as part of a pre-trial bond.
King is also being held on a probation violation.
Man charged with meth trafficking
39-year-old Shannon man was arrested on Dublin Circle on charges of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Martin Ortiz Zavaleta was found with over 30 grams of meth during the execution of a search warrant.
He is also charged with a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property.
Man accused of slashing tires, fighting with officers
A 26-year-old East Rome man is facing charges of felony obstruction of officers and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property following his arrest on Monday.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
Curtis Emmanuel Watkins III slashed the tires on a man’s vehicle at a location on Woodrow Wilson Way back on November 29.
As Watkins was being fingerprinted at the jail on Monday, he resisted officers, putting his palm against one officer’s face.
Watkins had to be taken to the floor.
He is additionally charged with disorderly conduct and failure to appear.
