Two people were killed in a head-on collision on New Year’s Day in Cherokee County, Alabama.
26-year-old Jasmine D. Agan of Cedar Bluff was fatally injured when the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse she was driving collided with a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by a 16-year-old juvenile, also of Cedar Bluff.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, 25-year-old Thomas D. Agan of Temple, Georgia, was also fatally injured.
Authorities reported that neither Agan was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The 16-year-old driver of the Explorer sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he was airlifted to UAB.
The crash occurred on New Year’s Day around 5:43 p.m. on Alabama Highway 9 near the 263-mile marker, approximately two miles north of Centre.
