Woman accused of fraudulently using the debit card of an elderly victim
A woman from Ft. Oglethorpe is facing felony charges in Floyd County.
According to the arrest warrants:
48-year-old Angela Kay Burnette illegally used a 71-year-old Silver Creek woman’s debit card on November 4, causing the victim financial hardship in paying for essential services.
Burnette is charged with identity fraud and exploitation of the elderly.
Three arrested on meth possession charges during traffic stop
Three people are facing drug charges following their arrests on Turner McCall Boulevard on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Henry Dejuan Ferrell and 30-year-old Haley Davenport Ferrell, both of Rome, and 39-year-old Dustin Lee Porter of Cedartown, are charged with possession of methamphetamine after a plastic bag containing meth was found inside the vehicle.
Henry Dejuan Ferrell is additionally charged with DUI and a probation violation, while Porter is additionally charged with open container and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after he was found with a small amount of marijuana and an open can of Bud Light.
Man charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, other traffic violations
A North Rome man is accused of fleeing from police on Sunday in the East Rome area.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Robert Jasper Wright Jr. because his passenger-side headlight was not working.
Wright failed to stop, driving recklessly and running a stop sign.
Once he stopped his vehicle, Wright got out and fled on foot.
He was later located on Maple Avenue at Willingham.
Wright is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, misdemeanor obstruction, reckless driving, a stop sign violation, a headlight violation, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and a probation violation.
Report: Summerville man fought with Floyd County Police
A Summerville man is facing multiple charges, including two felony counts of obstruction of law enforcement.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
32-year-old Michael Joseph-Richard Hines yelled at, threatened, and balled his fist during a verbal dispute with family members at a residence on Villamar Street.
The altercation was captured on cell phone video and took place within earshot of children.
Hines was later located walking along Alabama Highway.
He ran from the police, and once caught, he punched and grabbed the back of the officer’s neck.
The officer’s shoulder microphone and uniform pants were damaged in the scuffle.
After being taken for medical clearance at the hospital, Hines refused to exit the patrol vehicle and kicked officers.
Hines is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction, simple battery against a police officer, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, interference with government property, disorderly conduct, and simple assault.
Traffic stop leads to drug arrest
A man from Wheat Ridge, Colorado, is facing drug charges following his arrest at Highway 101 at Isbell Road in Silver Creek early Monday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Brian Anthony Main was found with THC wax, THC vapes, and marijuana during a traffic stop.
Main is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Two arrested during traffic stop
A traffic stop on Highway 411 at Hine Road over the weekend ended with the arrest of an Atlanta man and a Cartersville woman.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 25-year-old Randy Bernard Ooten failed to move over for a police car with its blue lights on.
THC vapes, marijuana, THC marijuana in packaging, and a firearm were located in the vehicle.
Ooten is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, an expired license, and approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle.
26-year-old Keondanya Tantwanecia Youmans is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Man accused of damaging cell phone
A Rome man is facing a felony count of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
29-year-old Clarence Cornelius Neal Jr. struck a woman in the eye and threw her cell phone to the ground, damaging it.
The incident occurred at a location on Heritage Way.
Neal is additionally charged with simple battery and a probation violation.
