More than A dozen motorists lost their lives on Georgia Highways during the Christmas holiday travel period, which began on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 11:59 p.m. last night.
The final numbers are expected to be released later today.
A fatal crash occurred in Floyd County just prior to the start of the holiday travel period last Tuesday.
58-year-old Jerome Jan Schoonhoven of Piedmont, Alabama, died after his vehicle flipped and left the roadway on Cedartown Highway at Shorthorn Road.
