The City of Rome was awarded a $20,000 Georgia Municipal Association Safety and Liability Grant to support projects that enhance citizen and employee safety. The grant, secured by Sarah Huffman, Assistant Director of Human Resources and Risk Management, will benefit several city departments.
Funding includes $5,000 for new confined space air monitors for the Water and Sewer Division, $7,495 to update AED equipment in Rome Police Department vehicles, and $7,505 to help the Rome-Floyd Fire Department purchase thermal imaging cameras for firefighting and rescue operations.
Georgia Municipal Association Safety and Liability Grant Program helps member cities improve safety and reduce liability through funding for training, equipment, and services. GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization based in Atlanta that serves more than 500 Georgia cities.
