The Floyd County Commission has awarded a bid for renovations to the exterior of the Historic Floyd County Courthouse.
The contract went to Midwest Maintenance, Inc. in the amount of $474,300.
“The amount includes an additional $50,000 in case there are change orders,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. “With a building of that age, we are confident we are going to find things that we are not aware of as this work continues. The vendor provided a responsive and responsible bid with the second-lowest pricing. Midwest Maintenance provided details in their proposal, and it was in the best interest of Floyd County for this project. Both of the two lower bidders—one totally withdrew and the second requested to withdraw, based on unknown items in his bid.”
The project, which is being funded by 2017 special-purpose, local option sales tax dollars, seeks to address concerns with safety and functionality, as well as retain the historical significance of the building.
