Report: Woman pepper-sprayed man in the face
A West Rome woman was jailed over the weekend on a felony aggravated assault charge following an incident on Drexel Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
18-year-old McKenzie Ann Tapp pepper-sprayed a 19-year-old Alabama man in the face.
Tapp and the victim had been in a relationship since the previous Monday.
Man accused of paying for sporting goods with counterfeit money
An Atlanta man is facing charges of 1st-degree forgery and theft by deception in Floyd County.
According to an arrest warrant:
31-year-old Aundreaus Rayshun Wright used 11 counterfeit $20 bills to pay for merchandise at Hibbett’s Sporting Goods on Turner McCall Boulevard on March 20.
He purchased just over $208 in merchandise and received more than 11 in change.
Report: Man pushed elderly man, causing him to fall
A West Rome man was arrested at his Burnett Ferry Road home over the weekend on a felony count of exploitation or intimidation of the elderly.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Tommy Shard Goins pushed a 71-year-old man against a door, causing him to fall.
The incident occurred in the presence of a child.
Goins is additionally charged with battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and a probation violation.

A Plainville man has been charged in a burglary dating back to October of 2024.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Rickey Allen Metcalf entered an unoccupied dwelling on Turkey Mountain Road and took multiple items including a pressure washer, two lawn mowers, a compressor motor, a generator, assorted home goods, and storage containers with a combined value of $2,350.
Metcalf is charged with 1st-degree burglary and theft by taking.
Woman indicted for food stamp fraud
A South Rome woman has been indicted by a Floyd County Grand Jury on charges of false statements and writings, and fraud in obtaining public assistance, food stamps, or Medicaid.
According to the indictment:
35-year-old Jessica Lauren Howard obtained more than $1,500 in food stamps between May 2022 and November 2023 and failed to disclose that her husband lived in the same home and was employed.
Report: Man damaged vehicle
A Rome man is facing a felony count of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
56-year-old Stephen Lamar Cannon damaged a 2002 Ford Explorer with a rock.
He also broke the rear-view mirror and dented the hood.
Cannon is also being held on a probation violation.
