Woman accused of choking minor

A Cartersville woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on felony charges following an incident that occurred in Rome.

According to jail records;

52-year-old Crystal Shanell Ware put her hands around the victim’s neck and choke-slammed her.

The victim is a minor.

Ware is charged with aggravated assault and 1st-degree cruelty to children.

Teen facing charges following incidents at YDC

A Stockbridge teen has been charged in a couple of incidents at the Bob Richards Youth Detention Center in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

17-year-old Justin Quillin Johnson squeezed the buttocks of a female officer as he walked by her back in September.

He also punched another officer in the face as that officer was attempting to break up a fight involving Johnson and another youth.

Johnson is charged with sexual battery and felony obstruction of officers.

Man accused of defrauding Walmart

A Marietta man is facing 15 counts of forgery of a financial transaction card in Floyd County.

According to the arrest warrants:

18-year-old Kenneth Lamar Houston completed a transaction at the East Rome Walmart by scanning a fraudulent bar code on his cell phone, paying a lesser amount for gift cards.

The total loss to the store was $577.50.

Houston was working in concert with another man.

The incident occurred on September 18.

Report: Woman who stole from sporting goods store also found with meth

A woman from Hogansville, Georgia, was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on charges of refund fraud and possession of methamphetamine.

According to jail records:

33-year-old Breanna Marie Hancock took more than $640 in merchandise from Academy Sports on Shorter Avenue.

She was then found in possession of suspected meth.

Man on a moped facing charges

A traffic stop on Alabama Highway at Barker Road on Friday ended with the arrest of a Rome man on multiple charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

51-year-old Jamie Leonard Cole was seen on a moped with a piece of its metal body dragging on the highway.

Cole ran a short distance, throwing a black mesh bag, which contained smaller bags of suspected methamphetamine, a clear pipe, a digital scale, and cigarillos containing suspected marijuana.

Cole is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, felony tampering with evidence, possession of drug-related objects, violation of moped laws, operating an unsafe vehicle, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Man accused of threatening police during traffic stop

A traffic stop for a window tint violation on North Avenue at Wolf Drive ended with the arrest of a North Rome man on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

21-year-old Jamarius Rashad Hoskins was found with a THC vape and then resisted officers.

He threatened the officers multiple times, telling them on one occasion, “I’ll catch you outside.”

Hoskins is charged with terroristic threats and acts, misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A 50-year-old North Rome man was arrested Sunday following a traffic stop on Anderson Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jeremy Daniel Green was found with an undisclosed controlled substance, along with needles and bowls.

Green is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, driving without insurance, and driving with suspended registration.

Report: Man tried to eat marijuana while being booked at the jail

A homeless man is accused of trying to eat a small baggie of marijuana while he was being booked into the Floyd County Jail on Sunday.

According to jail records:

34-year-old Jeffrey James Lovingood Jr. was initially arrested after trying to run from Rome Police Officers on Avenue B.

Lovingood is charged with possession of a controlled substance by an inmate, misdemeanor obstruction, tampering with evidence, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and a probation violation.
