Last week, candidates for the Rome City School Board participated in a candidate forum, and on Tuesday, voters will get to hear from candidates running for the Rome City Commission.
The candidate forum, sponsored by One Community United, the People’s Agenda, the League of Women Voters, and the NAACP, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Rome Area History Center.
It will be moderated by Dan Bevels.
The candidates are Elaina Beeman, Jamie Doss, Jill Fisher, Vic Hixon, and Randy Quick.
The forum is free and open to the public, and it will be live-streamed on Facebook.
We are one week away from the start of early voting for the November 4 Municipal Elections.
In addition to the Rome City Commission and the Rome School Board, voters in Cave Spring will be deciding contests for the city council.
Kristi Reed and Nancy Fricks are running in Post 3.
Incumbent Charles Jackson and Greg Webb are vying for Post 4.
In Post 5, the contest is between Warren Baker Harbin and Tom Lindsey.
Also on the November ballot is a referendum to allow liquor by the drink and Sunday liquor sales in unincorporated Floyd County.
Also, voters will decide whether or not to implement a one-penny sales tax, with the proceeds going to offset property taxes.
