The 2025 Wings Over North Georgia Air Show returns in less than a month, and aviation enthusiasts can still buy tickets for one of the region’s top attractions.
WONG was established in 2012 and has been named North Georgia’s favorite fall family weekend event and twice voted one of USA Today’s top 10 fan favorite air shows in the world.
Wings Over North Georgia takes off at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome, GA, on Oct. 17-19, featuring headline performances by the world-famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
The 2025 air show has expanded to a three-day event with the addition of a Friday evening show. The Friday event kicks off the weekend with gates opening at 2 p.m. for an early-bird opportunity to see the Blue Angels in their final practice before their Saturday and Sunday performances.
A concert featuring Atlanta country artist Kurt Thomas starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Thomas has won the Kenny Chesney “Next Big Star” contest and has opened for some big names in country music, including Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Zac Brown, Sugarland, Darius Rucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Gary Alan.
Friday aviation performances will take place during the twilight and evening hours, followed by a first-time drone show. And the evening will culminate with a huge fireworks extravaganza.
Then the full lineup of performers will fill the skies over Rome with thrilling aerial demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday.
The Blue Angels will be accompanied by “Fat Albert,” the U.S. Marine Corps C-130 transport aircraft that hauls support personnel and gear for the team and offers a flight demonstration of its own as part of the air show.
Additional performers in the world-class 2025 WONG lineup include: the Chuters Parachute Team, a C-130 demonstration by the 94th Airlift Wing from Dobbins ARB, the Bill Braack Jet Car Show, the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster II Demonstration Team, Redline Airshows aerobatic team,
Buck Roetman of Wild Horse Aviation, Kyle Fowler in the Long EZ, and the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team.
Vintage aircraft demonstrations will include Jim Tobul in the F4U Corsair, Scott “Scooter” Yoak in the P-51 Mustang, and Jerry “Jive” Kirby in the T-28 Trojan. The Ladies of Liberty singing group will also perform throughout the weekend.
This year will be the 11th Wings Over North Georgia event — and the first since 2021 — presented by JLC AirShow Management, which is based in Rome, GA.
“We held our first event in 2012 and each year we have incorporated improvements and enhancements to continue to offer one of the top air show experiences in the U.S.,” said John Cowman, president of JLC AirShow Management.
Static ground displays and pre-show demonstrations will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with performances for the main show beginning at noon each day.
