Man charged with child cruelty
A second person has been arrested on two counts of 2nd-degree child cruelty for allegedly exposing children to unsanitary living conditions at a home on Melton Avenue.
According to an arrest warrant:
40-year-old Nicholas A. Simmons kept an unsanitary and inadequate food supply and storage, as well as inadequate sleeping arrangements, due to the conditions in the home.
The warrant states those conditions could have potentially made the children susceptible to disease transmission.
Earlier this week, TJ Boelter was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to children in the case.
Woman accused of stealing elderly man’s rent money
A Rome woman was arrested on Wednesday at her Lake Ridge Circle residence on two felony warrants charging her with the exploitation of the elderly or disabled adult.
According to the warrants:
50-year-old Yvonda Smith Scales took $318, meant to pay the victim’s rent, and deposited it into her own account on May 10.
She then deposited $320 of the man’s rent money into her own account on August 23.
Echols is also accused of giving her sister’s name and date of birth to investigating officers, resulting in an additional charge of giving a false name or date of birth.
Man charged with meth possession during traffic stop
A Rome man has been jailed on a felony possession of methamphetamine charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 68-year-old Thomas Michael Haney was stopped at Rockmart Highway and Saddle Trail for an expired tag.
Following a K9 indication, a baggie of meth was seized from the vehicle.
Haney is also charged with operating a vehicle without a current license plate.
Woman charged with hindering apprehension
A Silver Creek woman is facing a felony count of hindering apprehension following her arrest on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year-old Nichole Allison Dickinson harbored a fugitive and was with him at the time of his arrest.
The report states that Dickenson knew the man had warrants for his arrest.
Man charged with aggravated stalking
A North man has been jailed on an aggravated stalking charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
32-year-old Alfred Jamall Echols violated a conditional bond to have no contact with the victim when he was found sleeping in the same bed with the woman at his Roseway Circle residence.
Woman accused of being a party to a crime
A Shannon woman is accused of being a party to the crime of theft by taking.
According to the misdemeanor arrest warrants:
45-year-old Amanda Danielle Wynne distracted an employee at the Valero gas station on Calhoun Road while another person took $1,160 from the store.
In addition to being a party to a crime, Wynn is also charged with theft by taking.
The incident occurred on July 7.
