Woman charged with child cruelty
A Rome woman is accused of exposing children to unsanitary living conditions at her Melton Avenue home.
According to an arrest warrant:
32-year-old TJ Boelter kept an unsanitary and inadequate food supply and storage, as well as inadequate sleeping arrangements, due to the conditions in the home.
The warrant states those conditions could have potentially made the children susceptible to disease transmission.
Boelter is charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to children.
Man accused of fighting with jail officers
A Rome man is facing charges after allegedly fighting with jail officers on Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
27-year-old Samuel Parker West broke open a hatch to the roof of his cell, and then began punching and kicking at the officers.
He is charged with interference with government property, felony obstruction, simple battery against a law enforcement officer, and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
West was initially arrested at his Dean Avenue residence for battery after punching a woman in the face.
Accused shoplifter also charged with meth possession
A homeless woman initially arrested for shoplifting at the West Rome Walmart and the Dollar Tree across the street is also facing a possession of methamphetamine charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
46-year-old Amanda Mae Houck removed the tag from some reading glasses at Walmart and then left the store without paying.
She also took a green shirt from Dollar Tree in an attempt to conceal her identity from officers.
Houck was then found with a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine in her purse.
