Man charged with child molestation
A Floyd County man was arrested Sunday on a felony count of child molestation.
According to jail records:
25-year-old Blake Justin Hugh Bragg had intercourse with a 13-year-old female at a location on Blacks Bluff Road.
Teen charged in fight at YDC
A Douglasville teen was arrested Friday in connection with an altercation involving several detainees, ages 13 to 17, at the youth detention center on Marable Way in Rome that occurred on August 17.
According to the arrest warrant:
As each altercation was separated by YDC staff, 17-year-old Mareece Darrell Adams would run to another youth and begin assaulting them.
Adams is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and was booked into the Floyd County Jail.
Report: Man arrested after shooting through wall
A Rome man was arrested Friday in connection with an alleged assault at his Canard Road home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Jamey Fuller Harris fired a gun through the wall into a bedroom where a 19-year-old family member was sleeping.
The report states that the family member told police that Harris was having paranoid delusions and that he imagined there was an intruder in the home.
After striking the bedroom wall, the bullet exited the house, toward the roadway.
Harris is charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
Woman accused of stealing more than 45K
A West Rome woman has been jailed on charges of financial transaction card fraud and exploitation of the elderly or disabled.
According to the arrest warrants:
45-year-old Maria Elena Ortiz Nunez took approximately $45,650 from the victim’s bank account between May 1 and July 16.
That included several card transactions of approximately $11,000.
Man charged with child cruelty, battery, simple assault
A 56-year-old man from Flowery Branch, Georgia, was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on charges of 2nd and 3rd-degree cruelty to children, battery, and simple assault.
According to jail records:
Robert Leon Sapp was involved in an altercation with a family member, who is a minor, at a home on Bailey Road in Aragon.
He walked around a counter, in an aggressive manner, toward the victim, putting her in fear for her safety.
He also pushed several items off the counter, toward an adult woman with enough force that they caused marks and bruising to her arm and thighs when they struck her.
The incident was witnessed by two other children in the home.
Man accused of fighting medical staff following wreck
A Kinston man was arrested Flowery Branch Road home on multiple charges following a wreck on August 16.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
63-year-old Kenneth Randall Fortune crashed his vehicle and then fought with medical staff at the hospital.
He kicked a nurse in the thigh when she was attempting to administer an injection.
Fortune also had an open half-gallon bottle of an alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and resisted a police officer as he was being escorted into the hospital.
Fortune is charged with two felony counts of interference with emergency medical personnel, one misdemeanor count of obstruction of law enforcement, DUI, open container, failure to maintain a lane, and a stop sign vio
Man accused of fleeing from crash scene
A Rome man is facing charges following a reported hit-and-run.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Demarco Anthony Farmer was seen exiting the driver’s seat of a vehicle following the collision.
He then fled the scene, ignoring police commands to stop.
Once caught, Farmer gave police a false name and date of birth to hide the fact that he had an outstanding warrant.
Farmer is charged with false statements and writings, obstruction of law enforcement, driving without a license, hit and run, and a probation violation.
Felony shoplifting arrests made over the weekend
Four people were arrested at the West Rome Walmart over the weekend on felony theft by shoplifting charges in separate incidents.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Mollie Anne Curio of Kingston was arrested on Sunday after she attempted to take more than $500 in merchandise.
Meanwhile, 39-year-old Shirley Michell Davenport of Rome, 54-year-old Tracy Jean Cowan of Silver Creek, and 62-year-old Michael Alan Beck of Rome were all arrested on Friday.
They bagged $770.04 worth of merchandise that had not been scanned and attempted to leave the store.
Cowan is also charged with criminal trespass after previously being banned from the store.
Once at the jail, Beck was found with suspected methamphetamine, resulting in additional charges of possession of meth and possession of drugs by an inmate.
