The Floyd County Board of Commissioners officially dedicated the Foundations of American Law & Government Display in its Administration Building during a called meeting Tuesday evening.
The display features nine framed copies of historical documents, including the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights, made possible by the efforts of local citizens Angela Rubino, Karen Lyn Dobson, and Linda Phelps, among others.
Their dedication, in partnership with Ten Commandments, Georgia, Inc., brought this project to life and serves as a visual representation of the philosophical and moral roots of American law and governance.

Commissioner Scotty Hancock said that as a member of the commission, he is proud to display the documents as a message of unity in the place where the commission meets.
“At the end of the day, when you boil it down, there’s not a person in this room that doesn’t agree that we live in a great country, that this is a great country, and we live in a great city here in Rome,” he told the crowd. “It’s great to be a part of that.”
