Plans for a residential and commercial development in West Rome will go before the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission on Thursday.
The applicant is asking for a zoning change at 2435 Shorter Avenue from Community Commercial to Multifamily Residential to allow for the construction of 30 townhomes. A portion of the parcel will remain Community Commercial for a future restaurant.
The planning commission will also consider an application for a special-use permit for a special events venue at 3360 Huffaker Road. The application includes the construction of a 40’x60’ Pavilion that would accommodate up to 150 guests.
A Special Use Permit for a Luxury Glamping and Peaceful Wellness Retreat at 1865 Morton Bend Road is also on the agenda.
Another application seeks to rezone 3940 Morton Bend Road and 0 Morton Bend Road to change the zoning from Agricultural Residential to Heavy Industrial for the existing fire and emergency services training facility, so the zoning will match the existing use.
A rezoning request for property at 39 Lindsey Road, 3625 Martha Berry Highway, and 3669 Martha Berry Highway will also go before the planning commission. The applicant is seeking a change from Duplex Residential to Suburban Residential and is requesting a Special Use Permit for a manufactured home.
Homeowners at 408 and 412 Cedar Avenue are seeking rezonings from Heavy Industrial to High Density Traditional Residential to protect their houses that already exist on the properties.
Another rezoning application seeks to rezone 1644 Wayside Road from Community Commercial to Agricultural Residential for the construction of a residence and to potentially acquire livestock.
Thursday’s planning commission meeting starts at 2:30 at Rome City Hall.
