WRGA Staff Reports –

The Floyd County Bomb Squad was forced to act quickly Wednesday night, detonating a large amount of unstable explosives tied to an ongoing investigation.
According to a Floyd County press release, authorities say the materials were too dangerous to store, prompting a controlled detonation that could be heard across much of the county.
Many residents expressed concern over the timing, as the blasts occurred late into Wednesday night.
Police stated the public was never in danger, but acknowledged the noise caused alarm.
Floyd County Police Chief Mark Wallace says better communication is a priority moving forward.
The explosives were linked to the arrests of 56-year-old Daryl Stamey Sr. and 64-year-old Steven Gray.
Investigators say Gray was manufacturing the devices at his home, where they recovered numerous explosives and materials.
Officials also discovered additional devices during a separate search on Hull Avenue.
The investigation remains ongoing with help from local, state, and federal agencies.
