WRGA Staff Reports –

The Cherokee County Alabama Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrest of two Cedartown men following a series of events reported near Indian Mountain ATV Park.
According to a statement from Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the investigation began after deputies received a report that a game camera had captured footage of a man trespassing on private property and exposing himself to the device.
The individual, along with another man, attempted to destroy the camera, experiencing multiple firearm malfunctions before eventually firing a shot that disabled it.
The suspects, identified as 66-year-old Donald Robert Hubbard and 52-year-old Louie Dan Sherman (both of Cedartown), were later determined to be convicted felons prohibited from possessing firearms.
Despite their attempt to erase the footage, investigators were able to recover and preserve the original recordings.
Warrants were secured, and both men were taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office before being extradited to Cherokee County.
Sheriff Shaver credited the Cedartown Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the arrests.
Hubbard was charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, criminal mischief in the third degree, and public lewdness.
Sherman was charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and criminal mischief in the third degree.
The case remains under investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
