The Rome-Floyd County Board of Adjustments recently approved a variance request that will pave the way for a new business at Mt. Berry Mall.
Rural King, a retailer offering a diverse range of products to support those living the rural lifestyle, has plans to renovate the former Sears store in the mall.
Since the store is attached to the rest of the mall, the applicant asked to reduce the setback from 15 feet to zero,
The variance will also allow for the creation of a parcel with no road frontage, and the reduction of the required parking to 520 parking spaces for the farm and home store with an outdoor display area.
As of 2023, Rural King operated 134 stores across 13 states in addition to two primary distribution centers.
The company is also known for offering customers a free bag of popcorn.
