Adairsville police make arrest in theft of cell tower equipment

On Monday, June 2, the Adairsville Police Department received a report regarding the theft of equipment valued in excess of $50,000 from a cell tower located in Adairsville.

Representatives from the cell tower informed responding officers that similar incidents have occurred within the surrounding area.

The stolen equipment consisted of a substantial quantity of coaxial cable and several batteries important for the cell tower operation.

Subsequent investigation by the Adairsville Criminal Investigations Division revealed that William Talmedge Streetman, a 25-year-old resident of Dallas, Georgia, had taken the stolen equipment to a recycling facility in exchange for monetary compensation.

It was also determined that Streetman had been apprehended in Bartow County in connection with a separate, identical theft.

As a result of the Adairsville incident, Mr. Streetman has been charged with felony theft by taking.
