The Rome–Floyd County Planning Commission will consider a number of agenda items when it meets on Thursday.
On the county side, there is a rezoning for property at 3940 Morton Bend Road and 0 Morton Bend Road from Agricultural Residential to Heavy Industrial for the existing fire and emergency services training facility, so the zoning will match the current use.
Another application seeks to rezone 754 Pleasant Valley Road in Silver Creek from Multifamily Residential to Suburban Residential to protect the existing home and to possibly subdivide the land to add another residence.
On the city side, there is an application to annex 0 Cedartown Highway into the city and then rezone that property along with 0 Cedartown Road from Light Industrial to Community Commercial to build a gas station and liquor store.
Another applicant is seeking to rezone 0 Cedar Avenue, 406 East 20th Street, 408 East 20th Street, 0 East 20th Street, 8 East 19th Street, 512 Cedar Avenue, and 510 Cedar Avenue from High Density Traditional Residential to Heavy Industrial in order to crush concrete on the parcels. They would also like to expand to include office space and additional truck and container parking.
There is also a request to rezone 408 Cedar Avenue and 412 Cedar Avenue from Heavy Industrial to High Density Traditional Residential to protect existing homes.
Thursday’s planning commission meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
