Savory scents, the sound of live music, and the energy of a united community filled the air at this year’s Taste of Rome fundraiser, hosted on May 27 at the Courtyard by Marriott RomeRiverwalk. The third annual event brought together hundreds of attendees for an unforgettable evening that blended the bold flavors of Rome’s top eateries with heartfelt purpose—all in support of mental health recovery through LivingProof Recovery’s Supported Volunteer Service (SVS) program.
From the sizzling samples prepared by local restaurants and the energetic performance by Kevin Allen Music Production, to the flashy fun of the interactive photo booth provided by Ivan Felipe and Blooming Oak Photography, guests enjoyed a dynamic and flavorful experience. The refreshing beverage station courtesy of Three Peaches Bar kept the crowd cool and spirited, while the fragrant spring blooms at the Roots and Willow Stem Bar added vibrant floral beauty to the evening.

A highlight of the night was the crowd-voted contest and Golden Spoon Award for “BestTaste.” This year’s top honor went to Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, who have participated in Taste of Rome since its inception.
“We’re proud to have been part of the Taste of Rome since the very beginning and truly honored to be named this year’s winner,” said Jim ‘N Nick’s General Manager, Ken Ollivierre. “At Jim ‘N Nick’s, community is at the heart of everything we do. This event reminds us why we love firing up the pit: to bring folks together and serve barbecue made with care. We’re grateful for the support and look forward to many more good times and great food with the community we love.”

In addition to the crowd favorites, Osaka Japanese Fusion—a brand new addition to both the Taste of Rome lineup and the Rome culinary scene—took home a prestigious Golden Spoon Award for “Most Creative Presentation.” Their beautifully crafted dishes wowed the contest judge, Chef Greg Paulson, Director of Culinary Arts at Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
This year’s event was not only a culinary celebration, it was also a fundraising success. More than $16,000 was raised to benefit LivingProof Recovery’s SVS program, an innovative, peer-led initiative that empowers individuals in mental health recovery through meaningful service, skill-building and connection.

“The impact of funds raised from Taste of Rome have an amplified benefit,” said Erin deMesquita, SVS Program Facilitator. “The SVS program is not only a pathway for those in recovery to reconnect through meaningful service, but it also serves as a vital piece of prevention for individuals living with mental health conditions. With such a strong connection between mental health and substance use disorders, we believe engaging people early and meaningfully is key to reducing future risk and fostering long-term wellness.”

LivingProof Recovery extends heartfelt thanks to all the participating restaurants, sponsors, volunteers, attendees, and partners who made this event a success. Your continued support fuels hope, healing and transformation throughout Rome/Floyd County.
