-Cartersville Police Department news Release-

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 11:56 AM, the Cartersville Police Department responded to 175 Main Street Market Place, 175 Main Apartments, to conduct a safety welfare check at the request of a third party.
Once contact was established, Jonathan Sentell produced a firearm and pointed it at the two responding officers.
Sentell then retreated into his apartment and refused to comply with the officer’s commands.
After extensive negotiations that lasted approximately six hours, Mr. Sentell was taken into custody by the Cartersville Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, with the assistance of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.
Sentell has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
