Multiple Tornado Warnings issued on Sunday evening, storm damage reported in Gordon, Bartow Counties

Representatives from the National Weather Service are expected to survey the damage from severe storms in Northwest Georgia that occurred on Sunday evening to see if the damage was caused by tornadoes.

Multiple Tornado Warnings were issued beginning at around 7 p.m., and many downed trees and power lines were reported in the storm’s aftermath.

Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston reported significant structural damage has been reported to farm buildings in and about the Oostanaula community.

The storms also destroyed a barn on Spring Place Road in the Cartersville area and brought down trees in Adairsville.

At 6:42 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for North Central Floyd County, Southeastern Walker County, and Northeastern Chattooga County.

That was followed by another Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 6:49 p.m. for Floyd, Gordon, Chattooga, Bartow, Western Gilmer, Murray, Southeastern Whitfield, and Southeastern Walker Counties.

The first Tornado Warning was issued at 6:58 p.m. for Northeastern Floyd County and Southwestern Gordon County.

Another Tornado Warning followed at 7:02 p.m. for North Central Gordon County and Southwestern Murray County.

Another Tornado Warning followed at 7:12 p.m. for Southwestern Gordon County and North Central Bartow County.

The final Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 7:27 p.m. for Southeastern Floyd County, Southeastern Gordon County, Bartow County, Northwestern Cherokee County (GA), Southwestern Gilmer County, and Pickens County.
