International Paper’s Rome Mill raised more than $221,000 during a recent golf tournament, the sixth annual Rome Mill Classic, to support United Way of Rome and Floyd County.
The funds are raised through golf tournament sponsorships that are matched by International Paper.
Over the last six years of the tournament, the mill has raised more than $946,000 for United Way’s work in the community, focused on supporting the local workforce and preventing crises before they occur by connecting people to resources and supportive services.
“Thank you to International Paper for continuing to step up and stand by our community, showing us what business caring really looks like. From generous financial contributions to rolling up their sleeves and volunteering locally, they continue to make a lasting impact,” said Alli Mitchell, CEO, United Way of Rome and Floyd County. “These funds directly address high priority needs in our community and support programming that makes a difference right here at home. Over the past year, we’ve made local investments addressing hunger and nutrition for vulnerable children, teens and other special populations, as well as substantial investments in preventing homelessness through employee advocacy and emergency utility, rent, and mortgage assistance to keep our workforce stable and neighbors safely housed.”

Our team and our sponsors look forward to this event, and we are happy to support it,” said Clay Ingram, Rome Mill Manager. “Our planning committee puts many months of planning into this tournament, and it continues to grow each year. The planning committee is comprised of a cross functional group of mill employees who have volunteered their time and passion to executing the tournament each year.

Our team is dedicated to making sure that we maximize the effectiveness of the tournament for our partners at United Way to continue pursuing a higher quality of life for all in our community and create a meaningful and fun experience for our sponsors.”
