Two prison inmates facing charges
Two inmates at the Floyd County Prison are facing charges after allegedly conspiring with a civilian to smuggle contraband into the facility.
According to the arrest warrants:
21-year-old Randy Felipe Salas of Atlanta used the prison’s telephone system to arrange the delivery of 42 grams of marijuana to the address of 29-year-old Matthew Scott Bedley’s family in Franklin, Georgia.
Bedley was then to have a family member bring the marijuana to Floyd County.
However, the plan was unsuccessful because a prison investigator retrieved the contraband before it could be picked up by Bedley’s family member.
Both Salas and Bedley are charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and the use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.
