A man wanted in a high-speed pursuit on April 12 in which two Polk County Police officers were injured is now in custody.
According to an arrest warrant:
37-year-old Albert Ladell Ware Jr. of Rockmart was fleeing from authorities on Highway 101 when he suddenly turned onto the 101 Spur, causing two Polk County patrol vehicles and a Rockmart patrol vehicle to collide.
Polk County Officer John Chandler sustained serious injuries including a broken hip, a broken sternum, and a disfiguring hand injury.
After the crash, Ware continued to flee, heading back into Polk County.
Ware was arrested on Friday at a location on Chateau Drive in Rome.
He is charged with serious injury by vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude, hit and run, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, and passing in a no-passing zone.
Ware has also been charged with aggravated assault, simple battery, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children in connection with an incident on March 14 in which he choked a woman on Burnett Street in Rome.
The assault was witnessed by two juveniles.
