A fire truck was involved in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday.

According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the accident occurred on March 5, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m.  A firetruck was traveling north on Highway 61, and a GMC C5500 truck was traveling east on Highway 113 in the right lane. The fire truck was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated. The driver of the GMC truck failed to clear the intersection of Highway 61 and 113 before proceeding through the red light and struck the front of the fire truck.

Officials with Bartow Fire and Emergency Services say the fire truck was responding to a fire when the accident occurred, there were no injuries.  Coincidentally, near the same location, a wrecked vehicle fell from a tow truck; this vehicle was not involved in the crash.

Fire crews were responding to a small fire in an abandoned mobile home at 75 Hawkins Road.  Officials say the fire caused very minor damage.

Motorists are required to stop or slow down when they encounter emergency vehicles with lights flashing.  According to the Georgia Office of Highway Safety, the Georgia “Move-Over” Law, was created to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities to police officers, paramedics, firefighters, wrecker operators, and highway maintenance works by maintaining an open buffer lane between passing highway traffic and authorized roadside emergency vehicles displaying flashing yellow, amber, white, red, or blue lights.
