North Rome man facing an arson charge
A North Rome man has been jailed on a felony 3rd-degree arson charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
21-year-old Jaylon Demarcus Kitchens set fire to a car belonging to his sister’s boyfriend at a location on Blacks Bluff Road.
Kitchens was arrested Thursday morning at his Jackson Street residence.
Woman charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle
A Rome woman is accused of stealing a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee from her ex-husband earlier this week.
According to an arrest warrant:
29-year-old Shanna Breann Crocker had a co-worker drive her to a location on Bowman Road where she got into the vehicle and drove it through a fence, causing $1,200 in damage.
She then drove the vehicle, valued at $48,000, off the property.
Crocker is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
Man charged with five counts of violating Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law
A West Rome man arrested for allegedly loitering in the parking lot of Alto Park Elementary School and entering an automobile earlier this week is facing five additional charges of failing to register as a sex offender.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
45-year-old Antoine Dean Scott failed to notify the sheriff’s office within 72 hours of moving to a residence on Burnett Ferry Road.
He also failed to give notification when he got a job with Burger King in West Rome in July of 2023, and that he was no longer employed by the restaurant in September of 2023.
Scott also failed to notify the sheriff’s office that he had gotten a job with Zaxby’s on May 17 of last year and that he was no longer employed there on October 1, 2024.
Man accused of having marijuana at the jail
A 53-year-old Celanese man initially arrested at Heritage Park Wednesday on a misdemeanor obstruction charge was also charged with a felony count of possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Brian David Bodkin refused to provide identification to a Rome Police Officer.
Once at the jail, Bodkin was found with less than an ounce of marijuana.
