Trail to be named for Scotty Tillery on Saturday

On Saturday, a ceremony will be held at the Potts Hollow Trailhead on Cave Spring Road in Cedartown to honor the late Jeffery Scott “Scotty” Tillery.

Tillery was instrumental in obtaining funding for, planning, and overseeing the development of the trailhead, which was opened in 2023 and has become a focal point for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians seeking local access to the 340-mile Pinhoti National Recreation Trail and other nearby multi-use trails that connect with the Pinhoti.

One of these, the Red Trail, will be renamed and signed as the Tillery Trail.

Additionally, a memorial marker will be placed at the trailhead honoring Tillery and recognizing his contributions.

The public is invited to the ceremony which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
