Woman charged with hit and run, child cruelty

A Silver Creek woman was arrested at her Pleasant Hope Road residence over the weekend on charges of hit and run and 1st-degree cruelty to children.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

20-year-old Lindsay Michelle Bedwell struck another vehicle on Highway 101 near Center Road and then failed to stop or notify 911.

She then failed to seek medical treatment for a child who was in the vehicle.

Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A Coosa man was jailed Friday on three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:

38-year-old Nicholas Paul Littlejohn failed to provide adequate food, water, and proper sanitation for three dogs at his Wheeling Drive residence.

One of the dogs had a heart murmur, bilateral nuclear sclerosis, and dental issues that will likely lead to the extraction of several teeth.

All three dogs were emaciated.

Man accused of strangling woman

A South Rome man was arrested Sunday on a felony aggravated assault charge.

According to an arrest warrant:

21-year-old Jykel Keon Prater wrapped his hands around a woman’s throat, strangling her and causing her to be unable to breathe.

The incident occurred on November 13 at Prater’s residence on Pollock Street.

Two motorcyclists arrested in Shannon

Two Shannon men were arrested Saturday during a traffic stop on First Street in the village.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old William Kyle Godfrey was on a motorcycle, which had been reported stolen.

He then attempted to throw his jacket, which had suspected methamphetamine inside of it, over a fence.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Nicklous Yvone Barnes threw a blue glove containing a glass smoking device and kicked it down the road in an attempt to get rid of it.

Both men are charged with tampering with evidence and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Godfrey is additionally charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of meth, and misdemeanor obstruction.

Man arrested on multiple charges

A 38-year-old Rome man is facing charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, and multiple traffic violations following his arrest Saturday at Cedartown Highway and Booze Mountain Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Brice Alan Williams drove in the opposite lanes toward incoming traffic.

During a traffic stop, police seized a white, powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine.

In addition, Williams is accused of stealing the Chevy pickup truck.

Williams is additionally charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, driving a vehicle without a current license plate, driving without insurance, driving without a license, a windshield violation, improper tail light, and failure to maintain a lane.

Man charged with identity fraud during traffic stop

A Rome man is accused of providing someone else’s identification during a traffic stop on Veterans Memorial Highway at Three Rivers Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A vehicle driven by 20-year-old William Anderson Holcombe was stopped for failing to maintain a lane.

Holcombe was also found to be driving under the influence.

He is charged with identity fraud, DUI, and failure to maintain a lane.

Woman charged with meth possession

A Silver Creek woman was arrested during a traffic stop Friday on Rockmart Road.

According to an arrest warrant:

54-year-old Wanda Michelle Davenport was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine at a location on Old Lindale Road back in June.

During the traffic stop, she admitted to having a small amount of marijuana.

Davenport is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, a window tint violation, and failure to appear in court.
