Members of the Rome City Commission will get an update on the update to the Unified Land Development Code during their Monday night caucus session.

Rome, Cave Spring, and Floyd County are currently in the process of updating the Unified Land Development Code, which was written 20 years ago and has never been comprehensively updated.

Monday’s caucus starts at 5 p.m. in the Sam King Room at Rome City Hall.

During the regular meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. upstairs, commissioners will consider a resolution to update the wrecker and towing fees.

The fees for services are regulated by the city and must be kept on file in the city clerk’s office.

The Public Safety Committee is recommending e fee for the basic tow of any vehicles up to 10,000 pounds and for motorcycles that require special strapping be increased from $100 to $125.

Another change would see daily storage charges begin upon delivery of the vehicle instead of 24 hours after pickup.

Also on the agenda is a recommendation from the Rome Alcohol Control Commission to designate February 9, Super Bowl Sunday, as the designated Sunday pouring day for 2025.

Under state law, establishments that sell alcohol on Sundays must meet a 50-50 food-to-drink ratio. However, cities can designate one Sunday a year to allow businesses that do not meet that requirement to serve.
