Two charged with aggravated animal cruelty

Two homeless people have been arrested on felony warrants charging them with aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to the warrants:

50-year-old Kimberly Faye Smith and 36-year-old Stephen Matthew Smith subjected their two dogs to prolonged physical pain.

The dogs suffered from a severe case of mange.

The incident date and location were listed as February 26 on Braves Boulevard.

In addition to two counts of aggravated animal cruelty, both are also charged with three counts of cruelty to animals.

Kimberly Faye Smith is additionally charged with failure to comply with Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law.

Man accused of violating TPO, making threats

A 37-year-old Lindale man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following his arrest on Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Justin Ryan Potts violated a temporary protective order by sending text messages to the victim, threatening to harm her.

He also threatened that others would harm her if he should go to jail.

Potts is charged with aggravated stalking, terroristic threats and acts, and obstruction of law enforcement.
