According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a truck was recovered Friday morning from Weiss Lake at Chesnut Bay. Law enforcement began to look for the truck after a fisherman reported what he thought was a vehicle. The truck was registered to Oscar Lewis King who was reported missing from Cherokee County in late 2013. Human remains were discovered inside the truck.

According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, the remains will be sent to the forensics lab in order to obtain confirmation of the identity.

Jax State’s Center for Applied Forensics and ALEA’s Marine Patrol assisted Sheriff’s Office personnel in the recovery.
