City Commission to hire new water and sewer director, approve Forum rental fees

A new water and sewer department director will be appointed during Monday’s Rome City Commission meeting.

Mike Hackett, who had served as director since 2015, left in October after accepting a job in Okaloosa County, Florida.

Assistant Director John Boyd has been handling the director’s duties since Hackett’s departure.

Also Monday, the commission is expected to approve rental fees for the Forum River Center

The city has assumed ownership of the Forum as a result of a sales tax distribution agreement with Floyd County approved in 2022.

Commissioners will also read proclamations for Officer of the Year, Arbor Day, and Georgia Day during the meeting which starts at 6:30 pm at Rome City Hall.

The caucus starts at 5 pm.
