Authorities find than 25 pounds of marijuana

A Cedartown man and a Rome woman were arrested after they were reportedly found with 25 pounds of marijuana.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The marijuana, along with packaging materials and a digital scale, was found during the execution of a search warrant on Eastland Court.

30-year-old Dishon Lamar Glanton and 39-year-old Atlantrish R. Elkins are charged with trafficking marijuana, felony possession, and possession with the intent to distribute.

Woman charged with aggravated assault

A 21-year-old Rome woman was recently arrested on a felony aggravated assault warrant.

According to the warrant:

Mary Ann Wilson strangled a man at her East 16th Street home on February 2.

Man charged in burglary of Cave Spring business

A Rome has been arrested in connection with the burglary of a Cave Spring business on April 9, 2020. 

According to the arrest warrants: 

35-year-old Jonathan William York entered Antiques on the Square and took several items.

York also took items from a 2019 Chevy Cruze on Lee Street in Cave Spring the same day.

He is charged with 1st-degree burglary and entering an automobile.

Man charged with 2nd-degree burglary

A 46-year-old Rome man is facing a 2nd-degree burglary charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 

Jerry Lee Hinton entered an unoccupied structure at 410 North Avenue with the intent to commit a theft or felony. 

Reports: Man stole tablet, used victim’s identifying information

A homeless man was recently arrested on charges of identity fraud, financial transaction card fraud, and theft by taking.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

25-year-old Justin Dakota Lovingood stole an Onn tablet and accessed the victim’s identifying information.

He transferred money from the victim’s Cash App account and withdrew money from an ATM.

Woman charged with felony shoplifting

A 32-year-old Duluth, Georgia woman is accused of stealing $582 in merchandise from Ulta Beauty in the Riverbend Shopping 

Center in Rome.

According to the arrest warrant for Cindy Johanna Olmos Morales, the thefts occurred on August 18, 2023.

Morales is charged with felony theft by shoplifting.

Woman charged with being a habitual violator

A 57-year-old Rome woman was arrested after reportedly striking a utility pole at the Circle K store on Calhoun Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Amanda Wells Swader left the scene and once located was found to be under the influence of alcohol. 

Her license had been suspended due to previous DUIs.

She did not have insurance, and an open container of alcohol was found in the vehicle.

She was also charged with being a habitual violator and driving while her license was revoked. 

Former Floyd County Prison inmate charged with conspiracy

A 27-year-old Newnan man is accused of conspiring with another inmate and two other individuals to have 122.1 grams of marijuana delivered to a road paving work detail in July of 2021.

According to an arrest warrant: 

Floyd County Prison investigators intercepted the marijuana.

Durrell Celestor Vaughn is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates, attempt or conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

Former inmate accused of having cell phone while in custody

A Meriwether, Georgia man is facing a felony charge in Floyd County dating back to March of 2021.

According to the arrest warrant:

32-year-old Christopher Jacob Burke, while an inmate at the Floyd County Prison, was found with a cell phone during a shakedown. 

Burke is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates.
