Three arrested on drug trafficking charges

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers recently arrested three people at a residence on East 19th Street on drug trafficking charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28 grams of MDNA, packaged for resale, along with a firearm, digital scales, and less than an ounce of marijuana were recoverd.

20-year-old Derricus Ramon Whatley Jr., 48-year-old Dwight Devaughn Chambers, and 61-year-old Timothy Brian Taft were also charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Whatley and Chambers were additionally charged with possession of cocaine.

Taft is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated cruelty to animals.

The report states that he had three dogs that appeared malnourished and there was no sign of dog food in the home.
