Man charged with aggravated assault
A 73-year-old Rome man is accused of assaulting a woman with a knife Monday at his Cedar Avenue home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Willie Charles Wilcox used the knife to cause an injury to the victim’s face and also stated he would have killed the woman if he had the breath.
He also prevented the victim from leaving the house and choked a child.
The events were witnessed by other children in the home.
Wilcox is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, 1st-degree cruelty to children, terroristic threats and acts, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Man accused of sending sexually explicit, threatening messages
A Peachtree City man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on charges of obscene internet contact with a child and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor.
According to arrest warrants:
27-year-old Andrew Garrett Burke engaged in a graphic written conversation with someone he believed to be under the age of 16.
He also sent obscene pictures and videos to the person.
Burke is also charged with terroristic threats and acts for allegedly suggesting the deaths of school children when he sent a text message saying he would “go shoot up a school and kill a few people.”
Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty
A 19-year-old from Lindale was arrested at his Park Avenue home over the weekend on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrant:
Joseph Lamar Hunter failed to provide adequate food, water, and sanitary conditions for a dog named “Trixie.”
The dog suffered serious medical conditions, according to the warrant.
Warrant: Man stole several items from vehicle
A 46-year-old Rome man is accused of stealing items from a vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center on Shorter Avenue.
According to an arrest warrant:
Carmine Narada Berardi entered the vehicle and took a Chromebook, a Nintendo Switch, a Reebok book bag, and a video game that was in the back seat.
The theft occurred on January 17.
Berardi is charged with entering an automobile and a probation violation.
Man accused of using company’s financial transaction card for personal purchases
A Rome man has been charged with financial transaction card fraud.
According to an arrest warrant:
33-year-old Robert Williams Wight used a card belonging to MSK Covertech to obtain goods for his own use to the tune of $7,402.84.
The transaction occurred earlier this year at the West Rome Walmart, according to the warrant.
