Woman accused of fleeing from police
A Rome woman was jailed Saturday on North Elm Street on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude, possession of cocaine, DUI, misdemeanor obstruction, and multiple traffic violations.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year old Valorie Deloris Haynes failed to yield while turning left and her vehicle traveled into the path of a police car, almost causing an accident.
She then fled as the officer attempted a traffic stop.
Haynes drove onto a curb and ran a stop sign while fleeing.
She also resisted arrest and refused to follow police commands.
Report: Woman kicked a pregnant woman
A Buchanan woman was arrested at a location on Reece Street recently on a charge of battery against a pregnant female.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Rebecca M. Heitt kicked the pregnant woman during a verbal altercation, resulting in the victim having to seek medical attention.
Man charged with theft, false swearing
A Rome man was recently arrested on warrants charging him with misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property, and a felony count of false swearing.
According to the warrant:
44-year-old Christopher Lawrence Hutchens claimed to be the owner of a 2002 Ford F-150 that he sold for recycling on September 28, when he should have known the pickup had been stolen.
Man accused of stealing pickup truck
A Cedartown man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a pickup truck on December 11.
According to the warrant:
50-year-old Donald Ray Kines Jr. took the 2011 Ford Ranger, valued at more than $1,500, from a residence on Wynnie Road in the Armuchee area.
He is charged with felony theft by taking.
Cedartown man charged with meth possession
Floyd County Police arrested a Cedartown man on methamphetamine possession and obstruction charges Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Brian Eugene Walters had a clear, plastic baggie containing suspected meth, and resisted arrest, failing to obey commands from law enforcement.
