Man facing child molestation, statutory rape charges
A 35-year-old Rome man has been jailed on felony warrants charging him with child molestation and statutory rape.
According to the warrants:
Hugo Mendoza Lopez is accused of molesting and having sex with a teenage girl on several occasions between December 1, 2021, and August 1, 2022.
The victim had a child and DNA results confirmed that Lopez is the father.
Woman charged with aggravated assault
A Summerville woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated assault.
According to the warrant:
32-year-old Alissa Michelle Blackmon broke a drinking glass on the head of another woman, causing a laceration.
The incident occurred on December 2 at Applebee’s on Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome.
Additional charge for suspect in home invasion
A Rome teen who was recently arrested in connection with a home invasion that occurred last month is facing an additional charge of theft by receiving stolen property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Treylin Maleek Burge was in possession of a stolen firearm on December 1 at a location on Dellvue Place.
According to previous jail records:
Burge was brandishing a firearm when he took a purse from a woman inside an apartment on Smith Street back on November 18.
Warrant: Man tried to smuggle tobacco into Floyd County Prison
A man from Douglas, Georgia is accused of trying to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison in February of 2022.
According to the arrest warrant:
29-year-old Joseph John McNamara attempted to enter the prison with 25.6 grams of tobacco and a lighter concealed inside his body.
He is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates.
