Two charged after jail fight
Two inmates are facing felony charges following a fight at the Floyd County Jail.
According to jail records:
20-year-old Darrius Eugene Haywood went to the cell of 40-year-old Deon Lamon Watkins, and the two got into a fight.
Haywood had to get treatment at the hospital following the fight.
He has been in jail since his arrest on September 28 for violating his probation and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
Watkins was jailed in July on felony and misdemeanor charges of obstruction, along with battery, and a probation warrant.
Both men are now charged with unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
Woman charged with drug possession, giving a false name
A woman initially arrested on Martha Berry Boulevard Friday for giving police a false name, is also facing drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A search following the arrest turned up a bag of suspected cocaine and a single pill believed to be alprazolam.
39-year-old Connie Leann Vann is charged with possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV controlled substances.
Man arrested on meth charges during traffic stop
A traffic stop on Old Rockmart Road at Silver Street for failure to maintain a lane ended with the arrest of a 53-year-old Rome man on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
After a positive K9 indication, the vehicle was searched and approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine was found in multiple packages.
Jody Lawayne Pelfrey is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, and failure to maintain a lane.
Woman charged with possession of ecstasy, cocaine
A woman was recently arrested on West Third Street after she was reportedly found with ecstasy pills and 1.9 grams of cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
21-year-old Micah De’Morrious Johnson of Rome also had a small amount of marijuana and digital scales.
She is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and giving a false name to police.
Two arrested in theft of debit card
A Silver Creek teen has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with financial transaction card fraud.
According to the warrant:
17-year-old Shianna Marie Escobedo used a debit card that had been reported stolen to make three separate purchases at the East Rome Walmart on November 20.
The purchases were for $71.66, $70.40, and $29.75.
18-year-old Yordy Murillo Romero, also of Silver Creek, has been charged with entering an automobile and theft by taking.
Jail records state that Romero entered the victim’s vehicle on Redmond Circle and took the wallet containing the debit card.
