-Rome Police Department report-

Rome Police have released additional information regarding a fatal wreck in West Rome that occurred Friday.

According to the accident report:

A 2003 Honda Civic driven by 60-year-old Louie G. Casey of Rome was traveling westbound on Redmond Circle in front of State Mutual when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on.

After impact, the Jeep overturned.

Casey was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m.

It is believed that he suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose consciousness prior to the wreck.

A passenger in Casey’s vehicle, as well as the driver and a passenger in the Jeep, were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
