Peaches at 325 Broad Street will have another hearing before the Rome Alcohol Control Commission on Monday.

According to the meeting agenda, the license hearing is for after-hours consumption of alcohol.

According to Rome City Clerk Joe Smith, on the morning of October 22, Rome Police noticed there were still customers in the establishment after 2 a.m., and some were consuming alcohol.

“No citation was issued, but the owner was asked to appear before the ACC to explain why there was consumption going on after 2 a.m., said Smith.

The ACC could take action if they deem it necessary.

That could range from a monetary penalty of up to $2,000 to a license suspension.

In May, the Rome City Commission terminated the establishment’s liquor license on grounds that it was not meeting the 50-50 food-to-drink ratio.

Peaches had just gotten the license back after it was reinstated by the city commission in late September.

That reinstatement came with a change that would allow Peaches to use the proceeds of ticket sales from concerts to count toward the 50-50 ratio, along with food sales.

Peaches never lost its beer and wine license since beer and wine sales are not part of the food-to-drink requirement.

Other agenda items for Monday’s ACC meeting include a new beer and wine package license request at Sunny’s Food Mart at 1107 Turner McCall Boulevard and a new beer and wine package license request at Sunoco at 2039 Maple Avenue.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
