NWGA: Freeze Watch issued for Halloween night

October 30th, 2023 – 4:10 PM

National Weather Service in Peachtree City –

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a freeze watch in effect starting late Halloween night (Tuesday) lasting until Wednesday morning.

Subfreezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees may be possible across Northwest Georgia (including Bartow, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Polk, and Paulding County).

Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.

Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
