A nineteen-year-old Rome man remains hospitalized after trying to outrun law enforcement on Wednesday afternoon. 

WZQZ News spoke with Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader on Thursday evening. 

Sheriff Schrader said that Jamon Kenterius Allen, age 19, remains in a Rome hospital but will be facing multiple charges in Chattooga County.   

Allen will also be facing charges in Cherokee County, Alabama in connection with the chase.

On Wednesday, reports indicated that Allen sped away from a traffic stop by Cedar Bluff, Alabama Police.  Police pursued Allen across the Georgia line into Chattooga County. 

Sheriff’s deputies in Chattooga County had put out spike strips outside of Lyerly, but Allen was able to navigate his way past the spike strips and continued to speed toward Summerville. 

The Summerville Police Department put out spike strips on Highway 114, just north of Chattooga High School. 

Allen attempted to avoid the spike strips and crashed into a concrete barrier at the Circle K. 

Allen’s vehicle also damaged another vehicle in the gas station parking lot.

Allen attempted to outrun law enforcement on foot in the parking lot of the Circle K but was quickly apprehended.

He was transported to a Rome hospital, where he remained as of Thursday evening.  Sheriff Schrader said that his department will be taking out warrants on a variety of charges against Allen.

Allen had outstanding warrants in Floyd County, according to Sheriff Schrader.
